TLS 460 ml Stainless/PVC reaction vessel |
The product is a deep drawn 304, .028" wall stainless steel cup of ~460 ml capacity to which two stainless steel over-center spring clips have been spot welded on opposite sides. These clips retain a clear, rigid, 1/2" thick PVC top that is "o" ring sealed when placed in position in the vessel mouth and retained by the clips. Any number of valves, hose barbs, or other fittings at customer option may be located in this lid as the rigid PVC is readily machinable. The lid is easily removed with the hands as the "O" ring seating surface in the stainless cup has been highly polished to minimise "stiction". The PVC lid has a grove machined around the top surface near the circumfrence to hold an approximately 2 lb. vinyl coated lead weight. This weight is used to keep the vessel submerged in a constant temperature water bath if necessary.
These vessels were originally developed and are still used as reaction vessels for yeast respiration instrumentation. The PVC lid models are suitable for pressures up to 15 psi and temperatures to 130 deg. F. An auto-autoclaveable model is available with a change in lid materials to allow use up to 230 deg. F.
TLS will happily entertain requests for these vessels to be manufactured with other lid materials besides PVC and autoclaveable polysulfone. Just about any machineable material may be used. Hose attachment fittings are customer option.
